Muscular contractions

Back, shoulder and calf contractures are very frequent, painful and disabling(1)

Muscular contractions

This term, rather used in sports circles, defines a spontaneous, lasting and painful contraction of a skeletal muscle, occurring in the absence of any anatomical lesion(1).

A contracture can be permanent or transient (cramp). On palpation, the muscle is hard, painful(1).
